The Northwest Lakewood Sanitation District was organized in 1954 and is a political subdivision of the State of Colorado under the Special District Act. The District was established to provide sanitary sewer services.
The District encompasses an area of approximately 6 square miles. The District is generally located between 42nd Avenue (north side), 6th Avenue (south side), Kipling Street (east side) and I-70 (west side). There are properties that are outside of these general boundaries, including some property west of I-70 and east of Kipling. The District includes property within the boundaries of several cities, including the City of Lakewood, the City of Wheat Ridge and unincorporated Jefferson County.
The District provides sanitary sewer service to both residential and commercial properties. The District's sanitary sewer collection system includes over 65 miles of sewer pipeline and over 1,400 manholes. The District contains approximately 4,000 homes and 500 commercial or multi-dwelling properties. The District has an approximate peak day flow of 2.2 million gallons of wastewater per day.
